The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare launched the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 on 9th October in New Delhi. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Anupriya Patel, in the presence of Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary (Health); Shri Amit Yadav, Secretary, Department of Social Justice and Empowerment; Dr. Sunita Sharma, Director General of Health Services; and Smt. V. Hekali Zhimomi, Additional Secretary, MoHFW.
The 60-day campaign focuses on empowering youth to adopt a tobacco-free and addiction-free lifestyle through six key strategies-raising awareness, strengthening enforcement of tobacco control laws, promoting Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions and Villages, expanding cessation services, and leveraging digital platforms for outreach.
Educational resources by WHO and Vital Strategies were launched, along with Operational Guidelines for Tobacco Cessation Centres in AYUSH Institutions and the National Strategic Action Plan for Tobacco Cessation. The campaign aligns with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and reinforces the collective vision of a Swasth Bharat, Sampann Bharat.
